Your work often features stunning visual compositions that captivate viewers. What initially inspired you to explore the themes and subjects you focus on in your photography?
Thank you for your interest in my work. My journey into photography wasn't a direct one. After studying engineering, I discovered a passion for capturing and manipulating reality through images. This blend of technical and artistic backgrounds fuels my work. In my 'Bookscapes' series, I explore the idea of curated knowledge and personal connection. By digitally reimagining bookshelves based on themes like film, rock and roll, or architecture, I invite viewers to engage with their own memories and passions. Each 'Bookscape' becomes a reflection of the individual who interacts with it.
Can you walk us through your creative process from conception to the final print? How do you decide on the specific elements and scenes you want to capture?
The specific elements and scenes I choose are always driven by the core theme and the emotions I want to evoke. For "Bookscapes," I select books that relate to the chosen theme, aiming to create a library that reflects a particular interest or passion. My creative process is a constant dialogue between concept and execution, where I strive to create images that are both visually striking and conceptually engaging.
Many of your pieces play with depth and perspective in fascinating ways. How do you approach these aspects when setting up a shot?
My approach to depth and perspective is a combination of careful planning during the shooting phase and creative manipulation during the digital editing process. By carefully considering these aspects, I strive to create images that are not only visually engaging but also conceptually thought-provoking, inviting viewers to question their perceptions of reality and explore the boundaries of their imagination.
Your use of color and light is particularly striking. What techniques do you use to achieve the vivid and dynamic effects that characterize your work?
Understanding color theory is crucial in my work. I carefully select and combine colors to evoke specific emotions and draw the viewer's attention to particular aspects of the image. Complementary and contrasting colors are used strategically to create visual interest and dynamic compositions. Post-processing is an essential part of my workflow. I use software like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom to enhance colors, adjust lighting, and fine-tune the details of my photographs. This allows me to achieve the vivid and dynamic effects that characterize my work. Digital editing also provides the flexibility to experiment with different looks and refine the final image to match my vision.
In your artistic journey, have there been any significant influences or experiences that have shaped your style and approach to photography?
My studies in engineering provided me with a strong foundation in precision, structure, and analytical thinking. This background has influenced my approach to composition, organization, and the meticulous attention to detail that characterizes my work. It has also inspired me to explore the intersection of reality and imagination in my photography.
Traveling and exploring different places have provided me with a wealth of inspiration and new perspectives. Observing diverse landscapes, architectures, and cultures has enriched my visual vocabulary and influenced the themes and subjects of my work. These experiences have also taught me to appreciate the beauty in everyday scenes and to find creativity in unexpected places. I have been influenced by various artists and photographers who have pushed the boundaries of creativity. The works of renowned photographers like Ansel Adams for his mastery of light and landscape, and Andreas Gursky for his large-scale, detailed compositions, have been particularly inspiring.
Additionally, the surrealist paintings of Salvador Dalí . Engaging in personal projects like the "Bookscapes" and "Seascapes" series has allowed me to experiment and refine my artistic approach. These projects have provided a platform to explore new techniques, challenge my creative limits, and develop a cohesive body of work that reflects my artistic vision.
